Club Rules.
All Members and Guests must comply by these Club Rules at all times. Refusal or continual non-compliance with these Rules may result in the Club user being ejected from the premises and termination of Membership if applicable.
The Basement Gym + Studio (“The Basement”) reserves the right to make changes to the Club Rules from time to time, and any changes will be effective immediately. Copies of these Rules can be obtained from reception or from the The Basement website.
“Club” means The Basement gym at which the Member applied for membership, and any other The Basement gym that the Member may attend in accordance with their membership package.
1. GUESTS
Any Guests to The Basement premises are required to sign in at reception. Guest visits are at The Basement's absolute discretion, and availability may be restricted at peak times. The Basement reserves the right to charge a Guest Fee for all non-Members wanting to use Club facilities.
All Guests are required to provide photographic identification, and failure to provide this may result in the Guest being denied entry to the Club.
All Guests agree to abide by these Club Rules, and failure to do so may result in the Guest being ejected from the Club.
2. DRESS CODE
All Club users are expected to wear suitable attire at all times while using Club facilities. The Basement considers suitable attire to be: a t-shirt or vest; shorts or trousers suitable for training; and closed shoes suitable for training (with exceptions for certain class activities).
The following is NOT acceptable:
Open shoes or bare feet, unless partaking in certain classes as above
No shirtless / lack of suitable clothing
Jeans or other inappropriate trousers
Getting changed in any area other than designated changing rooms
Inappropriate attire can be offensive or intimidating to other Club users, and as such will not be tolerated. Refusal to comply with the dress code may result in the Club user being ejected from the facilities; continued refusal is a breach of the Rules and as such The Basement may terminate the user’s Membership as stated in the Terms and Conditions.
All Club users should use suitable measures to maintain basic standards of hygiene, such as using deodorant, showering before exercise if needed, and wearing clean gym attire whilst training.
All Club users are expected to wear suitable swimwear and pool-side anti-slip footwear when using wetroom and spa areas, including in the sauna and steam rooms. Gym clothing, underwear, other day wear or ‘just a towel’ are not appropriate items of clothing for wear in the wetroom and spa areas, including in the sauna and steam rooms.
3. CONDUCT
All Members, Guests must conduct themselves in a respectful manner whilst using Club facilities. Any Club user who acts in a physically or verbally intimidating, abusive, violent or disrespectful manner, including use of disrespectful tone, may be ejected from the Club, and Members may have their Membership terminated with no refund of fees already paid.
For the purposes of these Rules, disrespectful behaviour includes, but is not limited to, the harassment of other Club users and Club staff. The Basement reserves the right to report any instances of harassment or abusive, violent or otherwise offending behaviour to the Police.
Any Club user found to be abusing the Club’s access control, including but not limited to, opening the entrance door to unauthorised Guests or sharing Membership access credentials with unauthorised Guests, will not be tolerated. Continued failure to comply with the Club’s access control is a breach of the Rules and as such Members may have their Membership terminated with no refund of fees already paid.
During busy periods, Club users are to use only one piece of equipment or set of dumbbells at a time. All weights and equipment should be replaced and returned correctly after use, and equipment and machines should be wiped down. Members should not leave weights, dumbbells or other pieces of equipment randomly on the gym floor.
Any Club users who are unsure of how to use a piece of equipment should seek instruction before using any such equipment. The Basement will not take any responsibility where a Club user sustains injury from incorrect use of equipment. If any equipment is found to be faulty or malfunctioning prior to exercise, use of said equipment is not permitted and members are asked to report the fault to The Basement staff immediately so that it may be sectioned off until an engineer visit has been arranged by The Basement.
Club users who damage equipment or gym fixtures and fittings will be held liable for any and all damages and losses (including any required replacements and installation fees), including consequential loss arising out of and connected to any such damage, including but not limited to the cost of repairs and loss of revenue as a result of temporary closure of the facilities.
All Club users must comply with any reasonable request from The Basement’s staff in relation to health and safety, and to ensure smooth running of the Club.
No Club user may bring external personal trainers to the Club or act as a personal trainer, paid or otherwise. The Basement personal trainers (PTs) have been confirmed as holding the required certification and insurance, and as such are the only trainers permitted to work in the Club. PTs are independent professionals, and not employees or agents of The Basement.
Only food and drink purchased at The Basement reception may be consumed on the premises. Consumption of food, protein shakes and hot beverages is limited to the nutrition bar area and not allowed on the gym floor under any circumstances. Food and drink, other than drink water, is strictly not permitted in the spa area, including inside the sauna and steam rooms.
All Club users must refrain from bringing any bags or coats on the gym floor. Large loose items pose a hazard when left on the gym floor, and should be stored appropriated in lockers.
4. PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEOS
Members may only take photos or film using mobile phones on the gym floor, and it is done discreetly with no other members in shot. The use of professional photography or videography equipment is prohibited. Photography and filming is strictly prohibited in all changing rooms and wet areas.
Club users must not take photographs or videos of any kind of other Members or Club staff in the Club at any time, including but not limited to, the changing areas, sauna and steam room areas, toilets, studios, free weights or cardio spaces.
If any Club user is seen to be taking photographs or filming, that Club user may be asked to show a representative of The Basement any images that the Club user has taken within the Club and to delete them if appropriate. If a representative of The Basement asks a Club user to stop filming or taking photographs they must do so immediately.
Failure or refusal to comply with these Rules may result in the Club user being ejected from the facilities and The Basement may terminate the user’s Membership with no refund of fees already paid. The Basement reserves the right to report any illicit photographing or filming of its staff or other Members or Guests to the Police.
5. FACILITIES
All Club users must exit the premises no later than the Club closing time.
No food or drink should be consumed in the Club training areas, other than drinks in sealable containers. Protein shakes may not be consumed in any training areas. Alcohol and illegal substances are prohibited from being brought into and/or consumed on the premises; any Club user under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances may be ejected from the Club. Smoking is prohibited on Club premises at all times.
All Club users must refrain from taking unsealed cups and other unsealed containers on the gym floor at any time.
6. CLASSES AND USE OF THE TRAINING PODS
The Basement’s timetables, instructors and classes are subject to change at any time. The Basement will use its reasonable endeavours to provide notice when a class is unable to take place for any reason.
In-house classes may be booked online via a Premium Member’s portal. The Basement operates with a "two strikes" non-attendance rule, whereby failure to attend a pre-booked slot for a class on two occasions within any 30 day rolling period may result in a one-week booking restriction. A member must cancel a class booking at least one hour in advance of the class to avoid receiving a strike.
If a participant arrives late to a class, entry to the class may be denied at the absolute discretion of the class instructor.
If a class is full a member can book onto a waiting list. An email will be sent confirming the Members place on the waiting list. When a space becomes available members will be automatically moved into the class and notified via email. Once on the waiting list Members are committing to attend and could be auto booked into the class up to 1 hour before the class start time. If you decide you can no longer attend please remove yourself from the waiting list as a strike will be applied in line with our class cancellation policy.
7. SAUNA AND STEAM ROOM
Sauna and steam room access is strictly for exclusive use by TBLDN Premium Members only. The Basement ’s Spa Usage Etiquette and Conduct Expectations are in place and form part of these Club Rules to ensure the enjoyment, comfort, health and safety for all users of the Sauna and Steam Room.
The Basement maintains a booking and controlled entry system to the Spa area so that our Premium Members can enjoy exclusive use of these facilities. Premium Members are able to book the Sauna or Steam Room in 15-minute slots. These slots are bookable through the ClubRight app. To book your Sauna or Steam Room slot, please go to My Bookings and scroll down to Make a Booking on the ClubRight app. To view the schedule, please filter by “Activity”, select either “Sauna” or “Steam Room” and then choose your preferred slot. A wristband is needed to access the Sauna & Steam Room area, these can be borrowed from reception on a day-by-day basis once having booked in for the relevant slot. You can book up to 2 consecutive 15-minute slots per area. Members booking 3 or more consecutive slots may have at least one of these slots cancelled. Members may not be consulted as to which of these slots will be cancelled.
Notwithstanding the complete Spa Usage Etiquette and Conduct Expectations:
Club users should wear swimwear (or other appropriate clothing) and use a towel whilst in the sauna and / or steam room, for the health, safety and comfort of other Club users. No other items should be taken into the sauna, including mobile phones, other electrical devices, books, newspapers or other paper items which can create a fire hazard.
Tampering with, or the adding of water, oil or any other liquid to any part of the sauna or steam room mechanisms by any Club user will not be tolerated. Failure or refusal to comply with these Rules and the relevant safety poster or dress code may result in the Club user being ejected from the facilities and TBLDN may terminate the user’s Membership with no refund of fees already paid. Club users found to be damaging or tampering with the sauna and steam room facilities will be held liable for any and all damages and losses, including consequential loss arising out of and connected to any such damage, including but not limited to the cost of repairs and loss of revenue as a result of temporary closure of the facilities.
8. LOCKERS AND LOST PROPERTY
The majority of lockers in Club are for day use only; Club users are required to provide their own padlock or can purchase one from reception. The Basement strongly advises all Club users to lock their belongings in a locker at all times that they are using the Club's facilities.
There is limited availability for permanent lockers, which can be hired for ongoing use. Pricing of permanent locker hire is available from the Club office, upon enquiry. Payments for permanent lockers must be kept up to date at all times.
For any day lockers left padlocked overnight, or permanent lockers not paid for up-to-date, TBLDN reserves the right to cut the lock and remove items from the locker.
Property cleared from lockers, or left on the premises, shall be held for between 10 – 31 days, dependant on storage available onsite. Unclaimed items are donated to charity.
The Basement takes no responsibility for loss, theft or damage for any items brought into the Club. The Basement takes no responsibility for theft resulting from unauthorised forced entry into lockers. The Basement strongly recommends Club users to avoid bringing valuable items to the Club where at all possible.
The Basement advises all Club users to report any theft of items to the Police. The Basement agrees to cooperate fully with any police enquiries, at all times using its reasonable endeavours. By using the locker facilities all Club users agree and accept that upon loss, theft or damage to belongings, The Basement will not by default conduct an internal investigation. Any internal investigations will be conducted at The Basement ’s full discretion.
9. GENERAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
If any Club user has concerns in relation to health and safety, they must report the issue to TBLDN staff immediately.
All Club users must comply with the Member Safety Policy at all times.
